Blessed with crystal clear waters and blue skies year round, be ready to sail into the Land of the rising sun and explore the beauty of the Ryuku Islands.
What to anticipate: The trip begins with 1 night in Hua Lien where we will be preparing the boat as well as gettng ready for an overnight sail to Yonaguni Jima which is the western most island of Japan. We depart around noon on day 2 and will sail for approximately 77miles before reaching Yonaguni early morning of day 3. We will spend 1 day exploring Yonaguni.
On day 4, we head for Ishigaki’s white sand beaches which have been acknowledged as the most spectacular in Japan. The passage will take approximately 15hours and we should arrive in the late afternoon of day 5 to check into our hotel.
For the next 2 days we will go Island hopping, scuba diving or snorkelling in the day and you may also want to splurge on the renowned Ishigaki Beef that gourmands travel across the globe for. Remember to wash it down with an Ishigakijima beer to complete the island dining ritual. For the athletic, you can choose to explore the islands on a bicycle as well. If you plan on scuba diving, remember to visit Manta Scramble and keep a look out for these beautiful creatures flying pass over you during your dive.
We will be spending 2 nights in Ishigaki before heading over to Tarama which is mid-way between Ishigaki and Miyako. The small rural island is largely flat with large sugar cane plantations and offers everyone an opportunity to explore and make new discoveries. After 1 night at Tarama, we will sail to Miyako.
Coral reefs that surround the island will keep you busy in the morning and there are picturesque sand beaches for swimming and relaxing. The water is warm and air temperature tops 25 degrees making for a very pleasant day out on the beach. Don’t forget to check out the long bridges that connect the islands around Miyako as well as the soba noodles which Okinawa is famous for.
